1. Goodnight Moon Board Book – $7.19, Amazon
I have to admit I didn’t care for this book at first, but it has definitely grown on me. Jeremiah likes me to read it before nap time and bed time. He bounces and smiles in delight when I mention that it’s time for “Goodnight moon”. We have it in board book form so I can’t let him play with it anymore because he likes to chew chunks off of it and if I let him I’m pretty sure he’d eat the book!
2. Homedics SoundSpa Sound Machine – $19.99, Bed Bath & Beyond
I’ve been playing this sound machine since Jeremiah was a newborn. There are six sounds in total but I stick to the same sounds to keep things routine, “Summer Night” for nap time and “Rain” for bedtime. The landscapers can be weed whacking outside our window and this will be playing and Jeremiah will sleep through it all. The familiar sounds I think also help signal to him that it’s time to start winding down. I also like that there is an option to put in batteries if you are traveling.
3. e.l.f. Lash and Brow Mascara (Crystal) – $1.99, Target
I use this for my brows only, even though it has designated sides for brows and lashes. For the price you can’t beat it compared to higher end and pricer clear brow gels. I put this on even when I wear no make-up, which honestly is most days. I tried to comb it through my postpartum baby hairs the other day to tame them because I heard that it was a “mom hack”; it didn’t go so well.
4. Vauva Playback Backpack Diaper Bag (Urban Black) – $129.00, RylaPack
Having gone through my fair share of diaper bag backpacks to find the perfect one, I finally found it. I love this bag because it’s minimalistic, it’s not too big like some others I’ve had (and stuffed to fill the extra space), and it wipes clean and holds its shape. I especially like the back zipper pocket that allows me to hold my wallet and keys so I can access them easily without having to take the backpack off (mommy win!). Vauva recently changed their name to Ryla, but the bag linked is still pretty much the same save for a few aesthetic differences. I may do an in-depth blog review on this soon.
5. Carole King & James Taylor Live at the Troubadour, $19.98 (CD & DVD Digipak), Walmart
I really like this album. It keeps things mellow and now that the weather is cooling down would be a great soundtrack for a nice cozy evening indoors. My top three song picks are “Country Road”, “Carolina in My Mind” and “Fire and Rain”. Honestly though the entire album is great.
